Airbnb split and save

I’ve been running low on creative fuel recently. Between launching an agency, finishing up a new app (more on that soon), and working on another new, super secret creative project (more on that in a few months), it’s been hard to squeeze more ideas out of my exhausted, caffeine-addled brain.

That’s why I was extremely grateful to wake up this morning to a DM from a Twitter follower suggesting an idea for a new unhinged UI.

It’s no secret that Airbnb is expensive. Cleaning fees are often in the hundreds of dollars and sometimes you still have to wash your sheets and take out the trash. Couple this with the limited availability of nice places on popular travel dates and it can be quite a disheartening experience.

But what if there was a way to save money on these trips? One could imagine a feature where you can “split and save” with another family or traveler. You would have to share the space for a portion of your stay in exchange for a giant discount.

I could see some young independent travelers appreciating this feature. On the other hand, if I want to take a relaxing vacation with my wife I don’t want to share my bathroom with a touring band or aspiring YouTuber. This experience would have utility for some, but would likely cause a fair amount of strife with other users on the platform.
