AirPods broadcast option

I just got the new 4th-generation AirPods. At first, I thought they were a degradation because they don’t have the little ear tips, but then I tried them on. The sound cancellation is amazing and so superior to what has existed in past versions. Also, the battery life is incredible. 3rd and 4th gen AirPods are kind of like my children; I have room in my heart to love both equally for totally different reasons.

Anyways, I digress… I was at the gym earlier this week, thinking about how everyone there is probably listening to different music. Then I thought, “What if there were a way to ‘broadcast’ my audio to everyone’s AirPods in the immediate vicinity?”

This would be an absolutely diabolical feature. There are also many technical questions that come up. Who gets to broadcast? How do we ensure there aren’t overlapping broadcasts? When do broadcasts end? The idea of collaborative music listening is interesting, but I doubt there’s enough shared interest and people who would genuinely want this feature to justify its existence. Fun idea though…
