Amazon Kindle sponsored book ads

My wife is an avid Kindle user. I respect her ability to voraciously read books. Since starting my own business, I’ve had less time to read for fun. To be fair, when I was reading more I found myself drawn to a physical book, not a Kindle, but I get the appeal.

When you leave a Kindle idle, there are all kinds of unhinged full-page banner ads. However, once you start reading there are no interruptions. But what if there were? Imagine a world where you get served unsolicited snippets of books while you’re reading as ads.

This would be extremely confusing and frustrating for people, but it’d also be an interesting way to discover new books (assuming you read the ad vs. skipping through it). I think this would enrage enough people that I don’t think it would get built, but it’d sure be interesting if it did.
