Amazon Meet Your Child Laborer

"I can't believe this is so cheap!"

Happy Tuesday all.

Unless you've been living under a rock for the last decade you are familiar with Amazon's Alexa and Echo products. They are a series of devices you can use to control smart devices, adjust lighting, play music, get cooking instructions, and more.

One of the most amazing things about a product like the Echo Dot is the price. Right now it's going for $35 on Amazon. How is it so cheap?

Historically, part of the reason has been child labor. Amazon got outed for their partnership with Foxconn which employed children as part of their efforts to meet production targets. To be fair, I don't think this is an ongoing issue, but who's to say?

In the name of transparency, what if there was a way to meet the makers of your product?

In an app like Etsy this would actually be a cool way to connect with artists and makers, but on Amazon is simply surfaces the lengths people will go to to cut costs.

Might make someone think twice before buying (or maybe not).
