Amazon pick up my order
Sick of waiting

We’re in the process of moving into a new office (yay!) However, this means we are ordering a lot of stuff off of Amazon. Sometimes you want something to arrive quickly, but it doesn’t end up getting delivered until late in the evening on the expected delivery date. Don’t get me wrong, Amazon’s fulfillment time overall is impressive, but it can be frustrating if you have free time waiting for a package to be delivered.
This got me thinking… what if there were an option to go directly to the driver and get the package from them? In theory, this sounds like a solid plan that would offload some of the effort required from Amazon. However, at scale, it might cause traffic disruptions and prove extremely inconvenient for the driver, as they’d have to stop a lot more than they do right now.
Additionally, routes are hyper-optimized and would need to be recalculated every time someone picks up an item (since that impacts the overall delivery path). It’s a cool idea, but I can see why they don’t support this currently.
