Apple Calendar anniversary guessing game
Let the games begin!
Yesterday was my anniversary. I’m lucky enough to have found a life partner who I’ve gotten to know and love more and more over the past 3 years of marriage and 6 years of dating before that (love you Torie 🖤).
When we got married, I made sure to commit the date to memory, but also added a recurring Google Calendar event to make sure there was zero margin for error. The forgetful husband trope is a tale as old as time, but it’s a meme for a reason. My wife and I were talking a few days ago about her friend’s forgetful husbands (to be fair, I’m forgetful at times too).
This got me thinking about reminder and calendar applications that help you remember important dates. What if instead of helping they created a bit of chaos to “reinforce” your memory? You can imagine an experience where the user is prompted to check 4 or 5 different calendar events to verify which date is the correct anniversary date.
Husbands across the United States would be cooked if this feature existed. For someone living a busy life, this would create so much stress. It might also prompt people to commit important dates to memory rather than forcing that responsibility on a device… food for thought.
