Apple Health aggressive bedtime notifications

Phones need rest too

Back in the good old days (before my time), you had only three TV channels, and if you wanted to stay up late consuming content, it had to be magazines or books. There was no option to go down a 4-hour rabbit hole watching Mr. Best or rug-cleaning videos. My, how the internet changed us all.

The latest stats, courtesy of Google, indicate that people spend 2 to 3 hours every day on social media. This is alarming, as it adds up to over a month every year. Is that really how we want to spend our time? I don’t have an answer to this.

I do, however, know it’s easy to get sucked into social, especially at night. This got me thinking, what if the “bedtime” notifications from Apple could be a little more pointed to jolt the user out of whatever they are doing?

At the very least, these messages could be a bit more aggressive. Or you could personalize the notification based on what the user is doing to turn things up to 11. I feel like bedtime is likely to be a low priority in the new iOS, but it could be an amazing tool if properly designed.
