Apple Health birthday death estimate
One more year, one step closer
It’s my birthday (sometime soon, not today). Unfortunately, I feel like I’ve passed the point of birthdays being fun. Now they just serve as a reminder that I’m not getting any younger. Random body parts are going to start hurting and my Taco Bell obsession is going to catch up to me one of these days. I digress…
As I’ve been building more apps within the Apple ecosystem, I find myself continually amazed at what sort of health data is stored on our phones. This is only exacerbated by people who use wearable technology like Apple watches (I don’t). With the onslaught of AI-powered wearables announced this week, this trend is only going to progress and get weirder.
Putting all that aside and refocusing on my birthday, I started thinking… what if Apple Health monitored your activity, height, weight, and diet in order to create an approximate “death date”. Then, on your birthday you could get a little reminder showing how many years you have left.
This is… bleak. However, for some, it might be motivating. I personally would appreciate something like this because it’d be interesting to see how or if my activity and diet could increase or decrease the number. However, nothing is promised and I could get hit by a bus tomorrow, so there’s not a huge amount of utility to this idea.
