Apple Health live activity for lifespan
See how long you have left
Good evening all. My apologies for the late email.
Getting old is weird. I’m almost 30 and as I reflect on my 20s, I’m realizing I felt (and acted) like I was the same age from 20 to 27-ish. The way we internalize time often lags behind reality from my experience. More recently, I’ve dealt with the loss of family members and close friends too. This is a natural part of getting older, but it creeps up on you and then hits you like a sack of bricks.
This did get me thinking about my own mortality (also not fun). I got a latte from Starbucks the other day and noticed they’ve rolled out activity trackers. It’s pretty nice because now I can time when I leave the house so that I can pick up and immediately start drinking my coffee without burning off the roof of my mouth.
This got me thinking… what if other apps had similar “live activities”? Apple Health immediately came to mind. You could imagine a rough approximation of your estimated death date, as well as minutes spent and minutes remaining. This is extremely morbid and would likely demolish your phone’s battery life.
On the flip side, it would be a good (yet painful reminder) that every second counts.
