Apple News show “only good news”

To say the world is going through a tumultuous time would be an understatement. I’m always looking for good news in a sea of generally bad vibes. It was interesting to see that Colossal brought the Dire Wolf back from extinction this week, but I’m not sure recreating the plot of Jurassic Park is “good news.” Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited for when they soft launch Dodo Birds.

The world events of the past few months got me thinking. What if there was a feature where users could specify the “type” of news they want to see? During especially heightened periods of controversy during the pandemic, I remember seeing “good news” apps, but it begs the question, what is good?

This opens up a broader question I’m definitely not qualified to answer, given the scale and scope of the question. Instead, I just made a silly app mockup that shows the state when there is “no good news” in Apple News.
