Buy Bitcoin with Pizza

Hope your weekend is off to a wonderful start.

In the wake of the recent bank runs crypto is having another moment. More specifically, Balaji is making a bet that Bitcoin will hit a price of $1m in less than 90 days. This is quite... optimistic given the current price is $27,569.10 as I type this.

Bitcoin's price has fluctuated dramatically in the past decade, but it's generally been a slow upward slog. There's the classic story we can all look back to where a man spent 10k bitcoin to buy 2 pizzas back in 2010.

Thinking about that now, it would cost a fraction of a Bitcoin to buy pizza, but this made me wonder how many pizzas it would take to purchase a Bitcoin.

To that end... what if Coinbase offered an option to buy Bitcoin with pizza?

There are so many fun questions this makes me consider. What kind of pizza? What size of pizza? Do I need to mail the pizza to Coinbase HQ? How much does Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong like pizza?

It's nonsense to be sure, but an enjoyable weekend thought exercise.
