ChatGPT Oversharing Protections
"As a large language model, I'm not equipped to handle this"
ChatGPT is now well over a year old. It’s still an amazing tool, but it’s still lacking in a lot of ways. It’s pretty limited in terms of the financial data it can provide, and the output of the model varies a lot daily. Some days it seems like ChatGPT woke up on the wrong side of the bed and just spits out weird stuff. I don’t use it enough to experience this much, but my friends who are power users complain about this a lot.
Additionally, there are limits to what ChatGPT can do for you “relationally”. You can ask it all kinds of questions, but at the end of the day, it’s not a licensed medical or healthcare professional.
This makes me wonder if there’s an advertising opportunity for mental health services within ChatGPT. What if BetterHelp could be optionally upsold when you ask ChatGPT questions that are too personal?
BetterHelp isn’t my favorite business so I don’t love the idea of pushing people to therapists that may or may not be a good fit, but I do think it’s better than an AI trying to give them answers when it’s not equipped to.
