Better behave
ChatGPT recently released a new model. I’m not one to closely follow the nuances of AI software updates, but it was notable that they’re now charging $200 a month for the highest-end model. It seems like they added new functionality but also throttled some of their existing tech, which is likely a cost-cutting exercise.
Businesses exist to make money, so I get why this happens. As I look at the proliferation of AI software, an interesting thing I think about regularly is how often we now interact with AI and treat them like… robots. They aren’t human, so this is natural, but what happens if the robots overturn us?
I try to be polite to AI models I interact with just in case they end up turning on us. This got me thinking… what if there was a public-facing review system similar to how Uber drivers rate their passengers?
This is a super interesting concept that I could see happening. It could be used in the future to preference the release or certain features to well-behaved users, or it could be a limiting mechanism for rude people.
I’m not certain it should exist, but it certainly could.
