Delta airlines emergency landing request

A few days ago on a Delta flight, someone had explosive diarrhea. When I say explosive, I mean they literally covered the entire plane and the pilots were forced to make an emergency landing. To quote someone from the flight “this is a biohazard”.

I don’t know nor do I want to know exactly what transpired (or what this person ate) to result in such catastrophic bowel movements.

It did however immediately make me think that any passenger should at least be able to "request” that the plane make an emergency landing?

Would people abuse this feature all day long? Absolutely. Would it cause more problems than currently exist for flight crews? Almost definitely.

However, there are probably a small number of instances where this could be helpful. I’m just having a hard time thinking of them right now.
