DoorDash future weight calculator

Compounding returns, but less fun

They say you are what you eat, but if that was the case, I’d be a Build-Your-Own Cravings Box from Taco Bell. I ate an unreasonable amount of Taco Bell in my college days and I have seasons where I eat excessive amounts in adulthood. It’s simply too good to give up.

I am painfully aware that my body will not be able to sustain this for forever. Maybe that’s why I’m eating so much of it while it doesn’t mess me up, but more and more, I’m realizing my body is far closer to that of a 30-year-old than that of a 20-year-old. It’s time to start making some changes.

All of these thoughts were swimming around in my head as I thought about apps like DoorDash and how easy it’s become to have a terrible diet. You could argue that it’s easier to get healthy food, but let’s be real, I’m not doing that.

Ordering out every once and a while isn’t bad, but any behavior compounds pretty quickly. You start to feel the positive benefits of working out, eating right, getting good sleep, etc. pretty quickly, but the long-term benefits creep up on you. The opposite is also true. To that end… what if DoorDash showed a future projection of your weight based on order history and HealthKit data?

This would be a pretty tough reality check for some (if the information was accurate), but if this was more thoughtfully positioned as a way to set dietary goals and help you choose healthy meals, there’s potentially an interesting angle for DoorDash.
