Drink water for more time on TikTok

A hydro homie app

My exhaustive research (1 Google search) indicates a crisis in America: 75% of people are chronically dehydrated. Until recently, I was part of this majority. Then I started working out, tracking macros, and constantly chugging water. It feels like a part-time job to stay on top of these metrics, but as you get older you realize the most important machine (your body) isn’t going to regulate itself forever.

The worst time for me is when I get too focused on a new problem or idea. This weekend I was developing a website with AI and I got lost for hours, only to realize it was getting late, I hadn’t eaten, and I was extremely thirsty.

To that end, what if software helped us regulate this behavior? You can imagine on apps like TikTok a feature where users are prompted to drink a certain amount of water before re-entering the app. This could be verified with an image learning model and access to the users camera (drink water on screen).

I can see something like this being extremely unpopular if it gets released as a default blocker on popular apps, and incredibly popular if an app was built to facilitate this with technology like the screen time API. Not sure if it’ll get built, but it’d be cool if it did.
