Duolingo giant eyelash splash screen

I’ve never been a big bumper sticker guy. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for freedom of expression, but in an increasingly polarized world, I don’t feel the need to permanently slap any statement or opinion on the outside of my car. If you do, more power to you.

One thing I will never understand is the niche subset of the population that anthropomorphizes their vehicles with accessories like massive eyelashes. It’s weird.

This got me thinking about the Duolingo splash screen where we see the bird for a few seconds. What if we treated this as an opportunity to decorate the bird? You can imagine the Duo bird with the giant carlashes blinking at you as the app loads?

There’s no new functionality here, it’s just a niche joke. However, I do think the splash screen is an underutilized potential viral moment for many product companies…
