Expedia Split Sheet Option

The last few months have been fairly travel-heavy for me. It's been busy between San Francisco, Detroit, New York, and North Carolina. Thankfully I have a more streamlined process for booking flights plus lodging now, but it’s still exhausting.

Additionally, it’s astounding how expensive hotels are. With the resurgence of travel post-pandemic, more people are booking travel and there’s simply not enough supply of both rooms and workers.

I’m fortunate to be able to eat the cost for booking a hotel, but for many these costs are untenable. For these people, I wonder what it would look like for there to be another option. What if platforms like Expedia provided a solution?

You can imagine an option when booking where you can split sheets with a stranger for a massive discount on your room. Yes, there are a million safety concerns, but for someone with a high-risk appetite, this is a great way to save. I know many touring musicians who might use this feature.

Given the legal nightmare this would create, I can’t see how this gets built. It’d be wild to watch it unfold if it did though.
