Facebook birthday reminder

To some, birthdays are a big deal. To others, they are simply another day. For others, it’s a chance to take work off and get free stuff from friends and family.

Whatever headspace you find yourself in come birthday time, you want someone to remember you. It doesn’t need to be everyone, but even one person remembering can mean a lot.

Back when I used Facebook, it was helpful to see when other people were celebrating their birthdays. I stopped using Facebook so now I mostly forget birthdays except those of close family members.

What if there was a way to change this? What if you really really wanted people to know, and you could notify all your Facebook friends that it’s your birthday?

This would wreak havoc on notifications. People with a lot of friends would likely get multiple notifications a day. However, it also might make people reassess who their friends really are…

It wouldn’t be a feasible feature, but it’d be a wild ride for a bit.
