Fidelity retirement age

There's such a thing as too much information

Planning for retirement is tough. 80% of Americans have less than $50k squirreled away for when they choose (or are forced) to stop working. This just won’t cut it, especially in a time of high, persistent inflation.

But enough finance talk, let’s think about how the average American looks at their retirement. For most people, it’s an online portal that is automatically set up when you start a new job. Switching jobs is a pain too because you have to roll over your funds or you get taxed on it (I know this from experience, unfortunately).

Anyways, what if there was greater transparency into your projected “retirement age”? You could show people when they can expect to have enough money to live on and you could work up to that goal/milestone.

The reason this wouldn’t get implemented is simple: most people will never have enough saved up. Sure, it’s a bleak take, but it’s an honest one.
