Find my iPhone detects when you use the bathroom and asks if you washed your hands

Keeping you hygienically accountable

The Find My iPhone feature is a lifesaver. There have been times when my phone slips behind some couch cushions and I have to activate it to figure out where it went. It’s a simple tool but has likely saved many people from going out and getting a new phone.

The granularity of Apple’s location-tracking technology is impressive. You can pinpoint location to a matter of feet, and I’m sure this will only get more precise with time.

The push notifications for this app can be obnoxious though. I’ve noticed every time my wife gets constant notifications about the location of her laptop in relation to her (though I’m sure this could be resolved simply by turning off notifications).

Given it knows your location so well, what if we combined this with time spent in a specific location (the bathroom) to detect if you are washing your hands?

If you are in the bathroom and then exit too quickly, Apple could detect this and follow up. Given that most people who are not washing their hands are making a conscious choice, this would likely be more annoying than helpful, but it might be good for kids.
