Give the gift of... debt?

The holiday season is consistently… expensive. Every year there’s one more friend to purchase gifts for, or some other event where you need to bring something. I’m not complaining, but I’ve noticed December is a consistently spendy month.

This got me thinking about people who spend WAY too much during this time of the year. What if there was a way for them to lighten the load a bit? You can imagine a feature within Chase (or other credit card providers where you could gift your card debt to a friend).

This would not be a popular feature. Okay to be fair, it would be extremely popular for the person gifting the debt. The recipient, however, would not be excited at all.

I can’t imagine a world where this is a real feature because inevitably certain people would get clobbered with everyone’s debt obligations, and it’d just sow a lot of strife. That said, it’d be interesting to watch this unfold were it real.
