Gmail maximum word count

Short and sweet, please

Communicate lies at the center of all work. As a new business owner, manager, and leader, I’ve found communication difficult when things are moving fast and you’re working with a distributed workforce. I’ve got a lot to learn, but I’m optimistic that remote-first can work with the proper systems and communication.

Generally, I try to keep it brief. I don’t always accomplish this, especially when discussing nuanced creative issues, but hey, I’m only human. Though imperfect, I pride myself on not using AI to write responses to messages. My wife and I were talking about one of her coworkers who used ChatGPT to write an email and pasted in their entire prompt history rather than just the email. I’d venture to guess we’ll see a lot of that in the years to come.

You can tell AI wrote something a few different ways, but the easiest indicator is how long the messages it sends are by default. Communicating simply is difficult for LLMs from what I’ve experienced. To that end, what if there was a way not to be AI-proof but rather to keep email exchanges brief by allowing users to set a maximum word count?

This would only get unhinged if the limits were set on a person-by-person basis. Alternatively, I could see some people with an inherent urge to yap simple sending multiple emails in succession. I don’t think this is a good solution, but it’d be nice if there was a way to incentivize keeping it short and sweet.
