Google Chrome naughty or nice list indicator
So be good for goodness sake
Santa Claus (or whatever proxy in your life delivers gifts on their behalf), will soon be upon us. All year, he’s been watching us and taking diligent notes on whether we will be placed on the naughty or nice list. Sorry to everyone who’s getting coal this year.
When you take a step back, the modern lore around Christmas (like most holidays) is super weird. However, after thinking about it a bit more, I wonder if there’s a way Santa could partner up with big tech to run the North Pole just a little bit more efficiently.
For example, what if he didn’t have to constantly track your behavior to see if you were bad or good? He could feasibly outsource this task to Google Chrome or another browser and make a judgment call based on a user’s search history. Is this invasive? Yes. Is most of our data already completely compromised? Yes. Are most of us unimportant enough that it doesn’t matter? Also yes!
What would be even wilder would be if each user was assigned a rank number. Then you could see who the “nicest” and “naughtiest” people on planet Earth were in any given year.
Google has a history of shipping fun seasonal UI (case in point, the Christmas light logo), but even for them, this is probably a step too far.
