Google Doc Hostage Situation
How bad do you need to see it?

Paulie Walnuts, one of the supporting characters in The Sopranos, once said, “II don't write nothin' down” (in a broader context, but the idea still stands). Similarly, I was horrible at taking notes and remembering content for later, especially when we first started the agency. Eventually, I grew accustomed to documenting information and sharing it via Google Docs. This has required a behavioral shift for me, but it’s important for visibility and the overall health of the company.
This got me thinking about Google Docs and how valuable some of them are to the right person. What if there was a way for another person to hold a document hostage (or simply make the doc paid?). Obviously, the hostage scenario is not ideal. However, I can imagine some situations where paid Google Docs makes sense.
Google likely wouldn’t add this as a native feature to their product because they already have less aggressive ways to monetize their product offering. That said, there is likely a small market that might pay a small amount for a secure word editor that paywalls docs. Then again, this could be a horrible idea.
