Google Maps country reviews

Reviews, when thoughtfully used, are a beneficial way for people to get a clear understanding of a product or establishment’s quality. However, so many incentives and mechanisms live on top of the core review structure that it makes reviews hard to trust. I don’t look at reviews much other than a way to filter out horribly reviewed restaurants.

I was having dinner with some friends this weekend and we realized Google doesn’t currently support reviews for countries. What if they did?

After about 3 seconds of though, it’s clear why this isn’t supported. People would review bomb or use this tool to manipulate global sentiment and I’m sure Google doesn’t want every country in the world knocking on their door to update their overall rating. This would be hilarious if it launched though and I’d be curious to see the results, plus the ebb and flow of each country rating over time.
