Google Maps driving instructions

Back to traffic school for you

Learning to drive is a rite of passage for many young Americans. Our culture has done an excellent job linking the automobile with freedom (hats off to the advertising industry). Getting your first set of car keys unlocks a new level of access and agency. You can go anywhere and do anything… to an extent.

It’s amazing to me that in such a diverse world, we’re all able to drive (albeit to varying degrees of quality). Every time I drive to or from LA, I’m reminded of the amount of human coordination needed for all of us to get where we need to be.

That being said, there are some crappy drivers out there. This got me thinking about mapping applications like Google and all of the traffic notifications and alerts you get. What if there were a way to link drivers and share driving instructions or lessons with particularly bad drivers?

This would be distracting and very passive-aggressive, but honestly, it could be helpful for some people. It’d likely cause more road rage if it was tied to specific people, but if it was anonymized there might be something to this.
