Google Maps live location for law enforcement
Slow down, you're goin' too fast
I used to be an aggressive driver. Eventually, I realized how pointless it is to fight traffic in Los Angeles and I gave up. You can either stress and strain and arrive at your destination 15 seconds sooner or relax and enjoy the ride. Thankfully, I live in Southern California so the view is nice if you take the time to enjoy it.
Driving reasonably also mitigates the likelihood of encounters with law enforcement. My docile driving likely helped me avoid fines even though I failed to renew my registration for over 2 years (truly unhinged, I know).
This got me thinking about how much data our cars and phones automatically provide. What if law enforcement received a notification and were dispatched to your location if you drove over the speed limit at all?
This would rightly infuriate drivers who are simply going with the flow of traffic. Many times, it’s dangerous to drive the speed limit because it’d be significantly slower than everyone else on the road.
The burden this feature would place on taxpayers (and law enforcement) likely inhibits it from getting built. Boy, would people be mad if they did build it though.
