Google Meet AI avatar reactions

Any corporate employee knows that meetings can completely take over your schedule if you aren't careful. Guarding your time is an important skill you have to learn when working at a large company. Otherwise, you’ll spend 9-5 in meetings and 5-9 working on the action items. It’s a nightmare.

Often, these meetings could have been emails or conversations you could listen to while working on other things to gather context. If more people bought into this ideology, many would be unemployed. Thus, the meetings continue.

This got me thinking about how to solve for “participation” with the advent of AI.

What if there was a way to create an AI avatar that could respond on your behalf within Google Meet conversations? There could be canned reactions like smiling and nodding, and then you could add custom reactions for phrases or sayings you commonly use.

In theory, this is a way to save time for employees, but realistically this would be a nightmare as meetings would become AI avatars talking to each other indefinitely. With the rise of AI job interviews, this future might not be far off.
