Google Meet Change.org Petition to Cancel Meeting

Be the change you want to see in the workplace

It’s nice to have coworkers who are flexible. I count myself lucky to work with people who are generally smart, amicable, and very down to avoid unnecessary meetings. It’s delightful.

However, part of the reality of working at a large company is meetings that are tough/impossible to move because of the size of the guest list. When these meetings get scheduled, I’m not an important enough person to justify making a change (which is completely reasonable).

But what if a huge part of the company can’t make a meeting? Even worse… what if most people think the meeting is unnecessary? In these cases, it could be helpful to be able to gather sentiments that the meeting should move or be canceled.

For a large company like Microsoft or Meta, maybe this justifies the ability to create a Change.org petition. Now, I’m not serious because this tool is primarily used for social issues on a global scale, but a robust internal tool to create petitions could be interesting (albeit counterproductive for the company).
