Google Meet late fee

In my corporate days, being timely was a badge of pride for me. I always strove to be punctual on calls. In retrospect, this maybe meant I didn’t have enough going on. Oh well, the past is in the past.

Nowadays, it can feel like a mad dash to make it to meetings. There’s so much going on during the workday that I feel like a chicken running around with my head cut off. Maybe this is an overly violent visual, but still, it’s chaotic.

All that to say, it’s annoying when people are super late to a meeting. What if there was a way to punish this behavior? You can imagine an experience where there’s a “late fee” for attendees who join after a call has started.

If this fee was optional, I’d assume many people would simply not join a call. This is interesting because if the person is vital this presents a problem, but it'd naturally highlight people who are not important or shouldn’t be on the call in the first place.

It’s probably not a good feature, but some permutation of this could be helpful.
