Google Meet how much time you spend watching yourself

Maybe a lil too much literal self-reflecting

For me, Google Meet is a home away from home of sorts. I can’t say I’m proud of how many mornings the first time I see myself is when I turn on a video call. Oh well, here we are.

The live preview of your video is for me, very distracting. Am I sitting weirdly? Is something happening behind me? Did I just yawn? Does anyone even care? Most people are the main character of their own story. What many of us fail to consider (myself included) is how little time many people spend thinking about those around them. This isn’t a bad thing, but more of a reminder that no one thinks about you as much as you.

To that end, it’s likely many of us spend too much time fretting over our appearance during meetings online. What if Google Meet called this out and showed us just how much time we spend looking at ourselves?

We’d likely realize A) we spend too much time looking at ourselves and B) that we should pay more attention to what’s happening around us.
