Google Meet notify me when they're done yapping
For the long-winded
Have you ever been on a video call where someone just… won’t stop talking? I have. If you work in corporate America, you’ll inevitably run into people who love to opine and share their perspective on anything, with anyone who will listen. Frustratingly, people who are good at talking sometimes end up in positions of significant influence and power.
I guess this is a long-winded way of saying that work requires politics. The higher up you go, the more your job becomes getting people to move around instead of simply moving rectangles.
This got me thinking about meetings I’ve been on in the past few years where people started monologuing. I wondered what it might look like if there was a feature where you could set a reminder or request a notification when someone is done talking. As long as this notification opt-in was not publicly visible, I bet a lot of people who work at large companies would use this.
Even if the information was visible, something like this could be valuable to collect worker sentiment on different leaders. This is probably a horrible idea, but hey, it’s interesting at least.
