Google Meet pop quiz
Make sure you're paying attention
It’s the weekend, but this holiday is flying by. I hope everyone who celebrated had a great Thanksgiving and can take some time to recharge before diving back into the work grind. I’m thankful I’ve been able to unplug the last few days and recharge by eating copious amounts of Thanksgiving food and watching Christmas movies. It’s the best, but my time is limited.
Come Monday, I’ll be back online, which will inevitably involve Google Meets, Slack huddles, and other calls.
When you’re in back-to-back calls for a large part of your day, it can be difficult to pay attention. Thankfully my meeting tolerance has been galvanized within the walls of large corporations, but I know many people who struggle to stay engaged after a few calls, which is reasonable.
This got me thinking about how one might call out a distracted coworker in a remote environment. What if there was a way to initiate a pop quiz where people had to answer a question mid-meeting about what someone was saying? This is extremely passive-aggressive and could easily be replaced by someone saying, “did you hear what I said?”, but where’s the fun in that?
It’s likely overkill for most people, but at the same time it’d be fun to play around with a feature like this.
