Google Meet post-meeting tasks

"What are our action items?"

I’ve been. making content about meetings for the better part of two years now. I am tired, but regardless, we carry on. Thankfully, now that I’m my own boss, I find myself in fewer meetings than in the past.

This on the one hand is great because I’m freed up to do other things like business development, recruiting, and high-priority projects, but it also means I’m pulled in a million different directions all the time.

As I was in a few fruitful meetings today, I started thinking about some of the more unproductive calls I sat on a few years ago. How do we make sure that calls are actionable? What if in Google Meet, after a call ends, there was a feature for people to assign unskippable “action items” to make sure that we’re working towards something concrete?

Honestly, action items would be a great feature. Making them due immediately would be a nightmare. I can see corporate America on one hand being incredibly frustrated by a feature like this, while also benefiting from making tasks required promptly.

This won’t get built, but maybe a company can cobble something like this together internally.
