Google Meet post-call purgatory

Literal payback time

Today, I’m off to Config, Figma’s annual conference. If you’re not familiar, Figma is the tool I use to design all these unhinged interfaces I’ve shared. It’s a versatile tool and the team is great to work with.

Yesterday was fun, but less so. I had to spend the first half of the day on calls. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good conversation as much as the next guy, but back-to-back meetings for hours can be a bit much, especially if the person you’re meeting isn’t adequately prepared for the conversation.

This got me thinking about my countless pointless meetings at large tech companies. What if, to punish the people who orchestrate these poorly planned meetings, there was a way to send them to some sort of purgatory after the call ends?

You can imagine a timer that dynamically adjusts their purgatory sentence based on the time wasted. In theory, the browser would lock on that screen to make the purgatory feel truly painful. It’s a fun idea, but I doubt this would be built, as there’s a very simple workaround (unplugging your computer).
