Google Meet "sneak peek"
Check out other people's calendars
When you work at a big company, there’s a lot of information to collect by looking at people’s calendars. You can sometimes predict layoff announcements, find out who’s interviewing for a job, or even see if someone is having performance issues. Some people figure this out because they have too much free time. Others discover this on accident when trying to find time to meet with someone (I’ve done this).
There’s a morbid curiosity when you see certain meetings happening, but you would never join a meeting you aren’t invited to, even if you could.
This got me thinking… what if there was a way to get a “sneak peek” of a live meeting by hovering over the calendar invite? This would be a nightmare for things like performance reviews or even regular 1:1s people have with their managers. However, it would increase “transparency” across a company.
It feels like a bridge too far to make any meeting publicly viewable, but this as a feature for public meetings does feel like an interesting concept.
