Google Meet x Duolingo collab

Let's review your mistakes

A big, painful lesson I’ve learned this year is that sometimes the smartest people are not the people you want in a room when having important conversations. Deeply understanding engineering, product, and design problems is pointless if you don’t have some level of rizz.

Rizz is strange. You have to be smart, but also a little fun. It’s this unquantifiable thing that few people have. I can turn on my charisma switch for a few hours a day, but doing it all the time is exhausting. To any salesperson reading this newsletter, I salute you.

After having a few suboptimal calls this year I started dwelling on my mistakes and how I might improve upon them. This got me thinking about the iconic Duolingo screen where it asks you to review your mistakes.

What if this existed within Google Meet? It could tear down your usage of filler words, and conversational slip-ups, and if you mess up badly, it could prompt you to take an English test. This feature would likely offend but simultaneously benefit many people.

Unhinged? Yes. Useful? Also yes.
