Google Meets show when someone pins your video

What are you looking at?

Sometimes I spend so much time in meetings that Google Meet feels like a second home. I think this is especially true this week coming back from a few weeks spent out of the office.

Regardless, there’s a special kind of anxiety when you’re constantly on camera. One of the particularly weird features I noticed recently within Google Meet was the option to pin someone else’s video. Normally I’m either listening to someone talk or watching someone share their screen, so it doesn’t make sense to me why you’d need to pin someone else’s video. Also, does this person know when you’re watching them? That feels… weird.

This all got me thinking… what if a user was notified when someone else pinned their video? I would like to know this information, though I see how this level of transparency is problematic. Would never ship, but would be fun (albeit chaotic) if it did.

Have a friend who would pin someone’s video? Send them this newsletter.
