iMessage 1 character every 10 minutes

I text a LOT every day. For example, I was active in 37 different text conversations yesterday. Remember, that doesn’t account for Slack, Figma comments, or email. It’s exhausting. A huge part of what powers this is my ability to quickly type succinct replies. Also, I’ve fried my brain over the past decade and am used to constant context switching. Thankfully, most people don’t have to do this.

In a world where everything moves lightning fast, I wonder… what would it look like to intentionally slow things down? I imagine an experience in iMessage where cellular providers intentionally limit the number of characters you can send, similar to what phones did back in the day when you could only send so many texts a month (yes, I’m that old).

People would hate this. It would be a great way to de-escalate intense text conversations, but it’d also kneecap global productivity if implemented. However, if I needed to relax something like this feature could be interesting.
