iMessage Average Response Time

Holding people accountable for their replies

As I get older, I get worse at responding to texts. My DMs have become so unmanageable I can’t reply to them all, but it’s starting to bleed over into text conversations too.

In some ways, slowing down your reply time is a right of passage into adulthood and a bit of a self-defense mechanism. You cannot give everyone in the world your undivided attention, and ruthlessly prioritizing is just part of what it takes to get by in this life.

However, some people are just bad at texting and have no excuse. It’s time we held these people accountable. For these types of people, a feature like iMessage average response time makes a lot of sense. You could audit someone’s entire text message conversation and give people a better gauge on if/when they should expect to see a reply.

This would frustrate a lot of people, but it might also reset some unrealistic expectations. People are not robots. They can’t just instantly reply to everything.
