iMessage BCC option
Adding a little chaos to text messages
Everything tends towards chaos, or at the very least, it tends towards complexity. I’ve seen many simple apps over the years become increasingly cumbersome in order to appeal to power-users. It’s a natural trend, but I’m sure it’s frustrating for the casual user to see their favorite apps become difficult to navigate.
Even iOS has started to get complicated lately. In the last couple of years, iMessage has even started to get more robust. You can un-send, edit, or even mention people in messages. It’s starting to feel a bit like Slack.
This isn’t inherently a bad thing, but watching a simple messaging app start to inherit patterns from a popular work messaging tool got me thinking… what if you pulled in some legacy patterns from email?
The term BCC literally means “blind carbon copy”. We are long past the days of carbon copies, but BCC is a term that lives on in our hearts and minds. So what if we added it to iMessage?
My guess is immediate chaos would ensue and many, many relationships would be destroyed.
