iMessage Link Click Visibility

Holding people accountable

Good morning and happy Monday. It’s a new week and I’m finally starting to feel more like myself after a week of being really, really sick.

It’s probably easy to guess from my online persona that I’m a comedy fan. Stuff like Tim & Eric, Comedy Bang Bang, and more recently I Think You Should Leave have been my jam. Some people, however, are not as big of fans. I get it. It’s an… acquired taste. However, I often still share things I enjoy with friends who might not get it.

When texting a friend, most people will respond positively when you share something funny. The insane part of me does wonder… did they actually click the link? If so, how much of the video I sent did they watch?

What if this wasn’t something we had to wonder about? Through iMessage, you could track if the link has been clicked or not. Taking it a step further, you could even show how much of a video someone watched.

This would create a lot of fights between friends, especially if the feature was quietly rolled out. People would also be less likely to send links though, which might save us all a lot of time.
