iMessage monthly character limit

We all have people in life who talk too much. It could be texts, phone calls, or in person, but we’re all experienced someone who would talk your ear off if you let them. In some cases, this is exacerbated by the proliferation of digital communication. People can text you all day, every day if they’d like (unless you block them, of course).

Blocking someone is such a harsh action. It’s hard to set digital boundaries that aren’t zero-sum (like a block). This got me thinking about iMessage. What if there was a better way to control your communication?

Yes, you can set do not disturb or mute people, but they’re still blowing up your phone somewhat. What if instead, you could set a monthly character limit on a person-by-person basis?

This would inevitably cause some people to sign with relief while others would be frustrated they can’t communicate important information. However, maybe it isn’t as important as they think.

It’d likely cause more frustration than it’d resolve, but who knows.
