iMessage political spam gifting
That's one way to sway public sentiment
I feel like a presidential election happened, I blinked, and now another one’s happening. Regardless of what political party you align with (if any), there is one experience that transcends party lines: political spam. I’m not sure how people get ahold of so many phone numbers, but if you want a sure way to not get my vote, it’s to text me without my consent.
The worst part is the messages are usually horribly written and don’t make much sense. They also try to act like it is the politician themselves texting you when in fact it’s some intern blasting out as many texts as they can.
Initially, when I opened Figma to start designing I had no idea what I was going to make. I realized it had been a little while since I made an iMessage concept, so I explored that route. After clearing through my phone I realized I’m already getting political spam. I wished for a way to automatically block these kinds of texts, and then I thought about designing a way to report these numbers to the FCC. Then I thought of something way worse. What if you could forward all your political texts to a friend of your choosing?
This would be a sick (albeit subtly funny) prank to pull on your nemesis. I could also imagine banding together with multiple friends and all of them redirecting their messages to one person, but for now, we’ll all have to deal with our spam.
