iMessage screenshot indicator

If memory serves me right, Snapchat used to (or still does) have a feature to indicate when someone took a screenshot of your story or photo DM. To be fair, this was back in like 2013 and the product has changed a lot since then.

It pretty clearly indicates in the Snapchat experience when a screenshot was being taken. More and more in the news, I see screenshots of private conversations getting shared. It’s unclear in many cases if both parties knew the information would be shared.

This got me thinking… what if there was a feature to indicate when someone took a screenshot in iMessage? If we take this one step further, I could see extra functionality allowing people to disable screenshots in certain conversations. Given this is an operating system level feature, it would require intervention from Apple.

However, it would be huge for encrypted/private messages if it could be done.

By the way, I saw Weird Al last summer with my wife. It was awesome.
