iMessage see what app they're currently using

It’s been a while since I’ve done an iMessage app. This is largely because I started to run out of interesting ideas. Thankfully, we are so back with a new concept today.

Discord is an extremely popular app amongst gamers, crypto people, and more recently Midjourney users. One of the wilder features they have within Discord is the ability to track the activity of other server members. I’m not quite sure how all the inner machinations of this feature work, but I’m sure there’s some utility for Discord power users.

This got me thinking… what if this level of visibility was pulled into a far more ubiquitous app in an aggressive way? For example, you could imagine an iMessage feature where you can see what app the person you’re messaging is currently using.

This would cause frustration, confusion, and heartbreak more than anything else. I can’t think of a single good use case off the bat, but it would make for some wild conversations if Apple enabled this and opted a large portion of its user base into the experience.
