iMessage tap the link if you want to respond
Did you see that link I sent you?
As my network has grown over the past few years, people have started sending me a lot of stuff. Keeping my inboxes, DMs, and messages in a semi-manageable state has become… difficult to manage.
One of the unfortunate byproducts of this is that people will send me stuff while I’m busy. I’ll see it, get distracted, and then forget to look at it. I’ve been on the receiving end of this and it stinks, so I try not to do this as much as possible, but it happens sometimes.
You might be so busy that things fall through the cracks. Other times, you may intentionally avoid clicking on a link for any number of reasons (you’ve seen the content before, it’s not funny, you’re busy, etc.). In these moments, what if the sender could “force” you to look at the content they shared by locking the ability to reply until you click on the link?
This would frustrate people, and I’d guess many would tap the link and then immediately go back to their messaging app unless they are required to look at the link for a certain amount of time.
A feature like this probably causes more friction than the positive outcomes it might yield, but I could see some people finding a lot of value in it.
