iMessage voice note max duration
For the yappers

I used to be staunchly against voice notes. Then I got busy. Now, I use voice notes all the time, though I try to keep them relatively succinct as I know it can be frustrating listening to a long note.
Some people I know are not as succinct, resulting in notes that can be 5, or even 10 minutes long. Given that I largely use these notes for work communications, productivity is a metric I keep in mind when sending voice notes back and forth.
This got me thinking about controls within iMessage. What if users could set maximum durations for incoming voice notes? There would be two potential byproducts of a feature like this. 1. People magically become more succinct and send shorter notes or 2. (the more likely outcome) people send a bunch of short voice notes.
Either way, limitations like this can have substantial impacts on how people interact with digital products daily. I don’t think Apple will build this, but I’d appreciate it if they did.
