Insta comment IQ test
"Elevating" the levels of social discourse
If you’ve been in the comment section of almost any social media app recently, you’re aware of what a cesspool it is. Some people are quite funny, but others can be incredibly hateful. It’s sad.
I often see popular posts from celebrities or influencers where comments are limited because if they weren’t it would be a nightmare to try and manage. As someone who has accrued a dedicated following in the past year, I empathize. You have to be really careful what you do and say. Even when you try your best, you’re more than likely going to attract some haters.
This being the case, what if we elevated the level of conversation on social media apps? Instead of trying to make sure people say nice things, maybe we focus on bringing more smart people to the table. I introduce to you: an Instagram feature to limit comments based on the results of an IQ test.
As part of my “research” for this feature, I took an IQ test (and no, I’m not sharing my results with you). If this existed it would kill most comment sections overnight. Getting someone to comment is hard. Getting someone to comment when they must overcome additional friction is way, way harder.
Still, it could be a fun easter egg for math or science subReddits or something.
